Electricity tariff goes up [1]

The price of electricity has gone up by 5.16 seniti to 80.15 per kWh as of May 1, 2015.

The new electricity tariff was approved by the Electricity Commission for the four island networks in Tongatapu, Vava’u, Ha’apai and ‘Eua.

The price hike from 75.00 seniti to 80.15 seniti per kWh, according to Tonga Power Ltd was due to an increase in the price of diesel for February-March 2015.

The tariff adjustment is determined by a process set down in a Concession Contract between the Electricity Commission, Tonga Power Ltd and the Government.
