Lord Tupou awarded IOC Olympic Order [1]

Lord Tupou, a former President of TASANOC was awarded the Olympic Order by the President of the International Olympic Committee IOC, Hon. Tomas Bach at the Grand Pacific Hotel, Suva, Fiji, on 1 May.
Lord Tupou was one of three Pacific Islanders and an Australian who were awarded the Olympic Order; they were Rosie Blake, Cook Islands; Joe Carlo, Vanuatu, and Helen Brownlee, Australia.
The awards were presented during a welcoming ceremony to the Oceania National Olympic Committee ONOC General Assembly that was held in Suva.
Takitoa Taumoepeau the Secretary-General said Lord Tupou was the first Tongan to be awarded an Olympic Order - the highest award of the Olympic Movement, which is awarded in recognition of distinguished contributions to the Olympic Movement.
Lord Tupou received the Olympic Order in recognition of his work and contribution to sports during the past 40-years.
Lord Tupou is a Law Lord of Tonga, a member of the Tonga Privy Council and an Tonga Appeal Court judge.
