‘Uhila Liava‘a new PSC chairman [1]

Sione ‘Uhila Liava‘a has been appointed Chairman of the Public Service Commission for four-years starting 10 April.
He replaces former Chairperson Mishka Tu’ifua whose contract ended on the same date.
Five applicants who were shortlisted after the job was advertised were interviewed by a panel including the Minister Hon Semisi Fakahau, Dr Uili Fukofuka and Mele ‘Amanaki.
Liava’a, an accountant, who served many years in the civil service is a former member of parliament and Finance Secretary.
The appointment of Commissioners is made with consent of Cabinet, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
