Police name suspect on the run [1]

Sione ‘Afa Teisina has been identified by police as the 28-year-old man who is on the run after allegedly imprisoning his partner at a plantation in Puke last month.
Police in Nuku’alofa said today the suspect from Navutoka has his name tattooed on his right arm and a cannabis leaf tattooed on his hand.
“People who are assisting him on the run are breaking the law and will be charged,” said police.
A police operation to locate him has continued since the alleged offence took place on 27 February. The search, which began at various areas in Tongatapu has now extended to Vava‘u.
The suspect is alleged to have unlawfully imprisoned his 20-year old partner inside a hut where they lived in at the plantation. The victim from Vaini was allegedly assaulted before being tied-up and locked inside the hut. She was left without food and water for several days while he disappeared.
The victim who managed to escape, was treated at Vaiola Hospital.
