Rain cancelled primary schools [1]

Nuku’alofa recorded 31mm of rain - its second highest rainfall recorded in 24-hours for the month, which caused all Government Primary Schools in Tongatapu to cancel classes today.

Tonga’s Meteorological Services said that from 10:00am yesterday Wednesday, February 25 to 10:00am this morning; 31mm was recorded in Nuku’alofa and 25mm at Fua’amotu.

Ha’apai recorded 52mm, Vava’u 4mm, Niuatoputapu 8mm, while no rain was recorded in Niuafo’ou over the same time.

The highest 24-hours rainfall recorded in the capital this month was 43mm on Tuesday, February 3.

Tonga is currently on its rainy season, which runs until April.

It is understood all other Government Secondary Schools and Teritary Institutes held classes today.
