China and Tonga strengthen friendship [1]

Tonga and China further strengthened ties during a Friendship Night on Wednesday, February 11 held at the Kahana Lagoon in Nuku’alofa.

The Chinese Ambassador to Tonga, HE Mr Huang Huaguang said that after the General Election he agreed with the Prime Minister Hon ‘Akilisi Pohiva to work together to further develop Tonga and China's bilateral cooperation.

He said the evening was organised in cooperatation with the Tonga-China Friendship Association and the Tonga Chinese Federation.

“Since we established diplomatic relations 16-years ago our cooperation reached...areas including economy, trade, education, culture, infrastructure, civil aviation and health," the Ambassador said.

The Prime Minister reiterated wanting closer ties between China and Tonga.

Guests included Cabinet Ministers, parliamentarians and the local Chinese community.
