Cruise ships visits increase for 2015 [1]

Sixteen cruise ships carrying over 30,000 passengers are scheduled to arrive to Tonga tin 2015, with seven of the cruise ships to visit Vava’u, an increase on last year.

According to the General Manager of Tourism Tonga, Stuart Perry “In 2015 we have 61% more cruise ship visitors expected into Nuku’alofa, and over 100% more into Vava’u. We are assisting with plans to ensure these important visitors have a great experience in Tonga.”

The first cruise ship, the Silver Whisper from New Zealand is expected to dock into Nuku’alofa this Friday, January 23 with 650 crew and passengers.

Two cruise ships are expected to dock into Nuku’alofa on February 24 with a total 3,500 Passengers and crew expected.
