Prime Minister sworn-in [1]

Hon ‘Akilisi Pohiva was sworn in this morning as the Prime Minister of Tonga during the first sitting of the Legislative Assembly 2015-18 session, at Parliament House.
The Speaker Lord Tu’ivakano led the swearing in of 'Akilisi as Prime Minister and as Minister of Education and Foreign Affairs. Other Cabinet Ministers were also sworn in.
Members of parliament were sworn in, except for the ‘Eua No. 4 Noble’s Representative Lord Nuku and Tongatapu No. 2 People’s Representative Semisi Sika, who were absent.
The House adjourned to 10:00am on Tuesday, 20 January to alllow two members, Tongatapu Noble's Representative Lord Vaea and Ha’apai People's Representative Veivosa Taka to deliver to King Tupou VI the parliament’s response to his opening address on Thursday, 15 January.
The agenda tomorrow is expected to include the appointment of the Chairman of the Whole House Committee, as well as members and chairs of Parliamentary Standing Committees.
This is parliament's first sitting after the General Election on November 27, 2014.
