Sydney resident, 26 year-old Ulu Tu’ipulotu is being called the heaviest man in Australia. His official weight, a whopping 337 kilograms. Ulu could also possibly be the heaviest Tongan in the world.

According to local media reports the unemployed video-game addict went public about his weight issues, vowing to trim-down after doctors told him he would die unless he lost weight. Ulu has already taken the first step to achieving this goal, currently undergoing hypnotherapy with a hypnotic slimming specialist.

Apart from food, Ulu stated that he is also addicted to video-games. An avid fan of Call of Duty, he told the Daily Mail [2] Australia “I’ll go for days playing eight to twelve hours, maybe more, never less.”

Ulu’s Tongan heritage may also be a factor. Tonga is currently ranked the most overweight nation in world with over 88% of Tongan adult woman and over 83% of Tongan adult men being classified as overweight.

Non-communicable diseases such as obesity and diabetes are the biggest killers in Tonga. Tonga’s obesity epidemic was well summed up by Ulu who stated “food is an important thing in Tongan tradition, but a big problem too”.
