OFC U17 Championship kicks-off, Tonga to play Solomon Is today [1]

Tonga’s under-17 football team will play its first game of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Under-17 Championship against the Solomon Islands in American Samoa this afternoon, Wednesday January 14.

The OFC Championship consists of 11 teams divided into two pools. Tonga’s pool lists the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, American Samoa and Tahiti. Tonga is an underdog in its pool and an underdog the in the competition a whole.

The winner of the tournament will qualify for this year’s 2015 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Chile. New Zealand and New Caledonia are favoured to make the finals of the competition.
