Murder accused appears in court [1]

Kefu Kalavi (19) the man charged with the murder of a Chinese shopkeeper at Halaleva in February this year remains in custody, after appearing at the Nuku’alofa Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 17 November.

The accused from Ma’ufanga, is expected to appear next at the lower court on Monday, 19 January, 2015.

Police arrested him last week on 15 November and charged him with murder.

The victim, Dao Zin He (31) died at Vaiola Hospital on 21 February after he was found unconscious inside his shop on By-Pass Road in Halaleva the night before, after sustaining head injuries.
