A paper scrap recycling business project from Tupou College won the secondary schools category in the Tonga Youth in Business Challenge 2014, while ‘Unuaki ‘o Tonga Royal Institute won the tertiary category.

The winning teams were announced on Tuesday, November 4 at the Tupou Tertiary Institute Hall.

The 3 month long Tonga Youth in Business Challenge is an annual and year-long school competition inaugurated in 2010. In the competition, teams set up businesses and compete to be the most successful.

The Tupou College team received a prize of $600 with a $200 shopping voucher. Second place went to Kakapa from Liahona High School, and third place went to ‘Vou Kava Tonga’ from Tailulu College Vava’u.

The grand winners of the Tertiary Institute Category were ‘UTRI Multimedia Production’, from ‘Unuaki ‘o Tonga Royal Institute. Their prize was a $1000 investment in their business and free Business Training from TBEC. Second place went to “Zone Green Royal’ from Tupou Tertiary Institute.

The judging for the competition was based on reports provided every month by teams, along with a final report and oral presentations describing their business activities and challenges faced.
