Vava'u youth dies after allegedly lying on road [1]

Na’asoni Lolohea (71) has been charged with reckless driving in relation to the death of a 20-year-man, who died after allegedly being run over over by a vehicle in Neiafu.
Tonga Police alleged that around 4:00am on Saturday October 4, the accused from Ha'akio was driving to Ngu Hospital when he ran over the victim Vaiki Palei, from Ta'anea, who is alleged to have been lying in the middle of the road.
The accused is said to have stopped and called an ambulance. The victim, who was rushed to the hospital, died from serious injuries at 5:00pm on the same day.
Na'asoni who is charged with reckless driving causing death was to appear before the Magistrate today.
This is the sixth road death in Tonga this year. Eight road deaths were recorded last year.
