A second edition of the  ‘Fakahalafononga' handbook by Malakai Koloamatangi will be launched on New Zealand's Election Day in Auckland on Saturday, September 20.

Malakai said the handbook title translates to 'Pathway to democracy: political terms and ideas for the present and future', consists of an additional 100 terms and ideas to the first edition launched in 2009.  It also has a brief section on Tonga's new constitutional set up and power relations between the organs of government.

"The original intention in 2009, when the 1^st edition was released, was to provide Tongans with the tools to participate meaningfully in politics, particularly during the 2010 Tongan campaign and elections.” He said that Tongans living in the diaspora also found the handbook useful.

Malakai, an Associate Professor, is the Director of the Pacific Doctorate/Officer of AVC Maori and Pasifika and Co-Director of the Pacific Research and Policy Centre/College of Humanities and Social Sciences, at Massey University.

The launch will be held at the United Church of Tonga Hall in Grey Lynn.

A Tongan launch is planned for next week in Nuku'alofa.
