LDS stake centre to be built in Nuku’alofa [1]

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will construct a new stake centre on a property on Vaha’akolo Road behind the Teufaiva Outdoor Stadium.

A groundbreaking ceremony on September 17 attended by the church's Pacific Area President Elder Kevin W. Pearson will mark the start of the 60-week construction by the contractor, Oregon Pacific International Company Ltd.

The new building is the latest addition in an effort to accommodate expanding church growth in Tonga. There are approximately 30,000 Latter-day Saint congregations worldwide, 165 which are in Tonga, reported Mormon News.
