The Fijian Navy has stated that an online video showing men being shot dead in the ocean were not Fijians.

The video which recently surfaced on the internet, showed four men being shot and killed in the ocean by Asian fishermen and claimed that the victims were Fijians.

However, the Fijian Navy is confident that the victims were not Fijian citizens. Fijian Naval commander, John Fox stated that their own investigations had confirmed this.

According to the Fijian Tuna Boats Association, Taiwanese contractors have told the Fijian police that the shooting incident related to a failed hijacking attempt by pirates off the coast of Somalia last year.
