Friday, July 25, 2014 - 17:40
Five of Tonga’s boxers will begin their first bouts today and tomorrow, putting their chins on the line in their quest for a medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The five boxers are Uaine Fa (Super Heavyweight), Benjamin Tauali’i (Heavyweight), ‘Ikani Falekaono (Light Welterweight), Oscar Finau (Welterwight) and Sosefo Falekaono (Middleweight).
Uaine Fa is one of the boxers favoured to win a gold medal at this commonwealth games. Fa was a bronze medallist at the 2010 Commonwealth games in India. He is also a skeleton in the closet for current Kiwi boxing star, Joeseph Parker. Fa defeated Parker twice as an amateur, denying Parker entry into the 2012 Olympic Games.
Uaine Fa, Oscar Finau and Benjamin Tauali’i will begin their first bouts today at the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre.
