Viliami Fifita, the Treasurer of PSA Finance Committee said that the $39,000 pa‘’anga received and more donations today would be used to help pay for their expenses.

He said that the donations came from the local business community , including Uata Trading, ‘Ofa Simiki Enterprise, Five Star Finances, Millenium Motors and others, while small donations came from individuals supporting the strike.

Viliami said that the donations would help to meet large expenses such as the Interim Committee'’s radio and television programs and announcements, the sound system hire, tents, banners and other expenses.

Meanwhile, one local bank has accepted the PSA...’s request to extend repayment dates for all civil servants loans until the situation is resolved and workers are able to get their wages.

"Westpac Bank of Tonga has accepted our request and is already extending repayment dates for loans, and other banks such as ANZ and Tonga Development Bank have informed us that they are working on it," he said.

Viliami said that although the financial support had been amazing, others who do not have the cash had shown their support in other ways by giving foodstuff such as peanuts, watermelons and tapioca.

Banners are appearing at Pangai Si'i.
