Heilala Festival to begin June 30 [1]

Tonga’s annual Heilala Festival is set to begin in Nuku’alofa on June 30 with events to July 12 under a theme ‘My Kingdom, My Home’.
A tentative program was released by the Ministry of Commerce, Tourism and Labour today for the two-week program at the town square in the CBD.
It begins with a "Tonga’s Got Talent" competition, followed by cultural dance competitions and a Heilala Block Party.
The highlight of the event is the 2014 Miss Heilala Pageant from July 7-11 with the interview, talent, sarong and island creation competitions.
The festival ends with a float parade on Saturday, July 12.
Meanwhile, it is understood the celebration of HM King Tupou VI’s birthday marked on July 4 will be held in Vava’u this year.
