Rallying Tonga's striking civil servants at a prayer meeting for 2000 people yesterday, Rev. 'Aisea Kava appealed to the Prime Minister of Tonga and Cabinet Ministers, to follow what Jesus did and share their loaves with the people who do not have any bread.

The Tongan government public servants yesterday, Sunday , July 31, sought "Divine Intervention" for a solution to their 10 day old salary dispute with the government of Tonga. tThe strike involving about 3000 civil servants has so far been a peaceful one.

About noon yesterday about 2000 civil servants and supported by the public gathered at Pangai Si'i in central Nuku'alofa sing hymns and in the church service led by Rev. Kava from the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga.

Rev Kava's message for the afternoon was that one of Jesus's miracles was when he fed five thousand people with just five loaves of bread and two fishes on a desert mountain.

After relating the story, Rev. 'Aisea appealed to the Prime Minister of Tonga and Cabinet Ministers to follow what Jesus did in the story.

Gospel skits and songs performed by church youth groups on Panga'i Si'i where rallies have been held daily since the strike began.

The crowd dispersed about 7pm and were reminded to return at 8.30am to keep up their vigilance.
