Two Tonga High School students, Mahima Parekh and Ineti Felemi are being recognised for essays  “Sustainable Living” they submitted in an International Schools Essays Competition.

The UK based Trust for Sustainable Living received essay submissions from 1,093 students across 73 countries, on the subject: “Outline your ideas for ‘sustainable living’ and the steps needed for societies to achieve them”.

The director for the Trust for Sustainable Living, Karl Hansen was impressed with the submissions, “a great many of which contained a huge array of imaginative ideas for sustainable living, in addition to being of excellent quality and composition.”

In a statement he said, “The Trust for Sustainable Living’s 2014 International Schools Essay Competition and Debate has a very strong international perspective which gives students the opportunity to work with some of the best young minds around, drawing inspiration from others, sharing knowledge and fostering cooperation. We therefore very much hope to see Mahima and Ineti participating in our International Schools Debate which will take place in the United Kingdom in July.”

Mahima Parekh and Ineti Felemi have been invited to receive their certificates at the awards ceremony in Berkshire, United Kingdom at which the winners of the competition will be announced. However, it was not made clear at this stage whether or not the trust was offering support for their travel.
