Student faces attempted murder charge [1]

Twenty-four Tupou College students and two adults who have been charged with serious offenses, relating to a violent attack of a home at Tofoa last year had their case adjourned to May 5.
The core group of accused appeared for committal of documents at the Nuku'alofa Magistrate's Court today, March 24.
One of the students has been charged with four serious offences of attempted murder, attempted arson, serious housebreaking and rioters unlawfully damaging a building.
Twenty-one students have been charged with rioters unlawfully damaging a building and serious housebreaking, and two faces four counts of rioters unlawfully damaging building, serious housebreaking, grevious bodily harm and bodily harm.
The two-adults have been charged with one count of abetment to rioters unlawfully damaging a building.
On May 5, the Magistrate will consider whether there is a case to be committed for trial at the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court.
The attack injured a Tonga College ex-student, Taniela Halahuni, who was left in a coma, and a Tonga College student, Daniel Mahe Jr with head and other injuries.
