PITIA elects new chairman [1]

The Pacific Islands Tuna Industry Association (PITIA) elected a new chairman for its board of directors at its annual general meeting last week 20 December 2013 in Nuku’alofa.
Adrian Wickham of the Solomon Islands was elected as the chairman replacing Charles Hufflett, the chairman since 2011 who stepped down.
“For PITIA, as a representative domestic tuna organisation, this is a positive change,” said Hufflett.
Adrian Wickham said that PITIA played a crucial role in the sustainable development of the domestic industry. “I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it”.
Pedro c. Celso of RD Canners from Papua New Guinea was reconfirmed as vice-chairman, while Tricia Emberson of Tonga, continues as secretary/ treasurer for another term.
PITIA is an association made of domestic tuna industries from 14 Pacific Island states (Cook Islands, Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu).
