New French Ambassador to Tonga, makes first visit [1]

THE new French Ambassador to Tonga HE Mr Gilles Montagnier presented his Letters of Credence to HM King George Tupou V at the Royal Palace in Nuku'alofa, on Tuesday, November 22.
Ambassador Montagnier's made his first visit to Tonga after taking up his position in Fiji in December last year. He also met with Tonga's Prime Minister Lord Tu'ivakano and other government officials.
He was the Consul General of France in Washington from 2000-03, and was the Consul General of France in Buenos Aires in 2006, before his posting to Fiji.
Ambassador Montagnier is the accredited as the French Ambassador to Tonga, Kiribati, Nauru, Tuvalu and Fiji.
He returns to Fiji on Wednesday, November 23.
