Tonga's donation towards natural disaster in Fiji [1]

The Government is donating FD$100,000 towards the victims of the natural disasters in Fiji as a result of heavy rains and flooding which so far has caused 8 deaths and forced at least 6,200 people to seek shelter and food at the 114 evacuation centres that have been established around the country.
The donation was approved by Cabinet on Monday, 12 January and will be handed over to the Fiji Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama, by the Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. The Hon Viliami Ta'u Tangi, who is in Fiji to represent the Government at the funeral service of Professor Epeli Hau'ofa.
The Prime Minister, Dr. The Hon Feleti Vaka'uta Sevele, has already sent a message of sympathy to the Fiji Interim Prime Minister, on behalf of the people and Government of the Kingdom of Tonga.
In his message the Prime Minister said,"Our hearts go out to those families who have lost loved ones in the floods and landslides and the six thousand plus evacuees who have lost their homes. May Almighty God give them solace and sustenance in their hour of need." PM Office, 14/01/09.
