Tonga and Germany to mark 140 years of relations [1]

Next year Tonga and Germany will mark 140 years of their diplomatic relationship was established in October 1876, said HE Dr Anne-Marie Schleich, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany who made her first visit to Tonga last week.
Dr Schleich presented her credentials to HM King Tupou VI at the Royal Palace Nuku’alofa on 20 April.
The Embassy is based in Wellington, New Zealand, and Dr Schleich serves eight Pacific islands countries, including Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Samoa, Nauru, Niue, Tuvalu and Tonga.
During her short stay in Tonga she met the small German community in Tonga which is made up of 40 families, and she visited some of the development projects, which are funded by the German government.
