POSITION: Office Manager

LOCATION: Hala Taufa'ahau Nuku'alofa

The Office of the Anti-Corruption Commissioner is an independent body responsible for investigating and preventing corruption within Tonga. It operates with the authority to review, investigate, and recommend actions and/or prosecute against corrupt practices of persons holding or have held public office. The Anti-Corruption Commissioner is currently seeking a dynamic, skilled, and dedicated individual to join our team as Office Manager. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of the Anti-Corruption Commissioner and its critical functions under the law.

Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Office Manager will play a central role in providing strategic support to the Anti-Corruption Commissioner. The incumbent will oversee Corporate Services, which encompasses administration, human resources, and accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective and efficient administrative support to the Commissioner including the management of issues related to staff and internship matters such as performance appraisal, et.al.
  • Handle day-to-day administrative matters, including the Office’s translation and research requirements.
  • Provide the general upkeep of the Office.
  • Provide draft accounting of the Office’s finances to assist the Commissioner’s monthly financial reporting to Privy Council and the Speaker and monthly expenditure management.
  • Comply with policies, commissions, and directives relevant to the Office’s policies and procedures, as issued by the Commissioner.
  • Diligently and competently exercise any statutory powers or functions conferred upon the Employee directly, by delegation, or otherwise.
  • Observe and promote adherence to the Anti-Corruption Commissioner’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the Commissioner from time to time.

Minimum Criteria: To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Qualification and work experience:
    • Certificate in English Proficiency
    • Certificate in Bookkeeping/Accounting
    • More than ten (10) years experience working for a government or NGO in the position of Office Manager or its equivalent to the Head of the organisation and Administration and Finances.
    • Must have a valid driver’s licence
  • Desirable: Experience with a law enforcement agency, with an understanding of the criminal justice system.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Tongan, with demonstrable proficiency in high-level reporting and stakeholder engagement.
