Interested in building your career in project support involving international development and natural resources management? The Kingdom of Tonga has received financing from the World Bank for an exciting project, the Pathway to Sustainable Oceans Project (Tongafish Pathway) to support sustainable management of the local fisheries sector. The Training and Communications Officer position will be part of the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the Tongafish Pathway Project in the Ministry of Fisheries (MoF).

The project is currently implemented and the position will be engaged under contract under similar terms and conditions to Ministry staff. Contract staff will be fully embedded within the Ministry of Fisheries and will work as part of the Ministry’s structure.

The position is a full-time contract for up to 2 years, with an extension based on satisfactory performance. Contract staff will be required to provide hands-on support in this area of specialty, across a range of project activities.

The Ministry of Fisheries now invites eligible individuals (“Consultants”) to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Consultants should provide

  1. A cover letter indicating your interest in this assignment;
  2. Curriculum Vitae to demonstrate that you meet the minimum requirements with three (3) referees and their contact details; and
  3. Statement addressing the selection criteria.

The attention of interested Consultants is drawn to paragraphs 3.14, 3.16, and 3.17 of the World Bank’s Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers, Fourth Edition, November 2020 (“The Regulations”) setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.

The successful applicant will commence on a 6-month probationary period. Salary is negotiable and will be based on qualifications and experience, inclusive of tax and superannuation.
