Cashier/Receptionist (Tonga)

Position Title: Cashier/Receptionist
Reports to: Finance & Administration Manager

OBJECTIVE

The Cashier is responsible for:

A Cashier's primary role is to assist customers in the in-store check-out process. Main duties include ringing up sales,requesting price checks, collecting payment and giving appropriate change. Responsible for counting the contents of cash register drawer at the end of each day, maintaining receipts, records and withdrawals. Additionally may be responsible for checking materials and supplies and reporting when stock is low.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Finance:
  • Handle cash, credit or check transactions with customer & specific department
  • Scan goods and collect payment
  • Ensure pricing is correct
  • •Issue change, receipts.
  • Redeem stamps and ensure payment are directly made by the Customers at the counter.
  • Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of the day to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
  • Direct customer complaints, guide them to the CRM Officer and provide relevant information.
  • Greet customers when entering or leaving establishment.
  • Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas.
  • Keep reports of transactions and Prepare daily banking in accordance with Asco Policy.
  • Process returns and check to see if items are damaged - seek approval from the FAM.
  • Answer customers' questions and get a manager if answer doesn't solve the issue.
  • Pleasantly deal with customers to ensure satisfaction
  • Ensure EOD reports are run in ERA and balanced.
Business Processes:
  • Ensure EOD reconciliations are well performed and balanced. High any discrepancies to the FAM instantly to resolve issue.
  • Ensure that all Cash are banked intact. Cut off Banking performed at 3.00pm every day and cash banked to ensure that minimum cash are kept at the premises overnight.
  • Filing and emailing of daily reports to maintain transparency.
  • Act like an audit to ensure that Cash are not handed to staffs at the counters, all cash are to be referred to the Cashier ONLY.
Learning and Growth:
  • Assist Finance staff in all other related tasks, Accounts Payable back up etc.
  • Work with Finance and Admin Manager to learn about business processes, identify the training needs, suggest and attend trainings if any available locally to enhance knowledge and skills.
Customer Service:
  • Liaise with the suppliers regularly assisting Accounts Payable and resolve any discrepancies cash clearing accounts.
  • Build relationship with co-workers, respect and communicate effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certificate/Diploma in Commerce

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 years experience with handling cash

  • Very fast learner and excellent Customer Service skills

  • Knowledge in Accounts receivable and payable are considered as an advantage.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

QUALITY ASSURANCE / OHS

  • Ability to carry cash and count accurately

  • Ability to travel to bank for banking purpose

  • Capability to move within departments for verifications on invoices and Customer queries

  • Assistance in other Finance tasks e.g. Filing etc.
