Vacancy – Senior Development Programme Coordinator

The New Zealand High Commission in Nuku’alofa is looking for a Senior Development Programme Coordinator to help manage Activities under the New Zealand Aid Programme in Tonga. The applicant will join a supportive team of people managing New Zealand’s aid projects and will have responsibility for aid projects including (but not limited to) governance, public sector development, policing, and fisheries.
The remuneration package includes a health and well-being subsidy, study assistance, and an employer contribution to the National Retirement Benefit Fund. The level of appointment will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
We are looking for someone who is able to demonstrate:
- strong project management experience, preferably in international aid, with skills in planning, financial management, risk management, and monitoring and evaluation.
- sound relationship management and interpersonal skills, and is comfortable working with Government, communities and business, as well as other development partners.
- excellent English language, analytical and reporting skills, and sound judgement.
- strong information management skills, and able to quickly pick up new software systems and processes.
As the senior member of the NZHC development team, the successful applicant will lead on policy development, analysis and reporting, as well as being a mentor to other members of the development team. The applicant we are looking for will be able to quickly pick up new ways of working and will be able to work independently. A relevant tertiary qualification and at least five years’ work experience is essential. Tongan language skills are highly desirable.
