Interested in building your career in project support involving international development and natural resources management? An exciting new project funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Fisheries is now underway to support the sustainable management of Tonga’s fisheries sector. The Ministry is seeking to fill positions under the Project, as part of the Compliance Division.

The project is planned for 6 years and the positions will be engaged under contract under similar terms and conditions to Ministry staff. Contract staff will be fully embedded within the Ministry of Fisheries (MOF) and will work as part of the Ministry’s structure.

Positions are full time for up to 3 years, with an extension available of up to another 3 years based on satisfactory performance. Contract staff will be required to provide hands-on support in their area of specialty, across a range of project activities. These are not advisory posts.

The advertised positions are available now and applications are sought from suitably qualified candidates based on the selection criteria expressed in the Terms of Reference (TOR) for each position. Candidates from the outer islands (Vava’u and Ha’apai) are encouraged to apply to the position to be based in that particular island.

Civil Servants are not eligible to apply to the above positions, as per the World Bank Procurement policies that will be followed for the selection of the candidates.

Interested candidates should pay particular attention to paragraphs 3.14, 3.16 and 3.17 of the World Bank’s Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers, July 2016 (“the Regulations”), setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.

A Consultant will be selected in accordance with Paragraphs 7.36 to 7.37 of the World Bank Procurement Regulations, July 2016 and revised November 2017 and August 2018.
