Ten Vacant Positions 

The Ministry of Finance is seeking to engage suitably qualified and experienced applicants for the following vacant positions that are now advertised.

Post Title / Division / Salary Band & Range

Minimum Requirements

1. Principal Economist

  • Budget & Corporate Planning Division
  • Band I ($30,240 - $45,360)
  • Bachelor Degree in Economics, Accounting or relevant field of study from a recognized tertiary institution with at least 5 years of work experiences in senior level of Government Accounting System; OR
  • Master Degree in Economics, Accounting or relevant field of study from a recognized tertiary Institution with at least 3 years of work experiences in senior level of Government accounting system.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Government legislative and institutional frameworks relating to Financial Management and Government Financial Management and Accounting System – Sun System Program, Meridian, CSDRMS or relevant accounting package.

2. Senior Procurement Officer

  • Procurement  Management Division
  • Band J ($26,880 - $40,320)
  • Post graduate qualification in Economics or related field from a recognized tertiary institution with at least a year experience in a similar role; OR
  • Bachelor Degree in Economic or relevant field of study from a recognized tertiary institution with 3 years of experience in a similar role or 4 years relevant work experience.

3. Senior Economist

  • Budget & Corporate Planning Division
  • Band J ($26,880 - $40,320)
  • Post graduate qualification in Economics or related field from a recognized tertiary institution with at least a year experience in a similar role; OR
  • Bachelor Degree in Economic or relevant field of study from a recognized tertiary institution with 3 years of experience in a similar role or 4 years relevant work experience.

4. Financial Analyst

  • Financial Framework Division
  • Band L ($19,490 - $29,230)
  • Must have first degree in Accounting, Economics or relevant field from a recognized tertiary institution with up to 3 years’ experience in Accounting or similar role.

5. Assistant Procurement Officer

  • Procurement  Management Division
  • Band M ($15,120 - $22,680)
  • A Diploma in Accounting, Finance or related field from a recognized tertiary institution with up to 3 years of relevant work experience.

6. Accounting Officer

  • Treasury Division
  • Band M ($15,120 - $22,680)
  • Relevant Diploma Level 5/6 from a recognized tertiary institution with up to 3 years’of relevant work experience; OR
  • Relevant Certificate level 4 plus 3 years’of relevant work experience; OR
  • Current Tonga Public Servant (TPS) employees with 5 years’experience in a similar role (meeting other core competency and experience requirements specified in the job description + PMS scores of 3 or above for the past 2 consecutive years.

7. Executive Officer

  • Corporate Services Division
  • Band O
  • Certificate in Management, Information Technology or relevant field from a recognized tertiary institution plus 2 years’of work experience; OR
  • Pass in Form 7 plus 4 years’of relevant work experience; OR
  • Pass in PSSC plus  6 years’of relevant work experience.

8. Clerk Class I

  • Sub-Treasury Haápai
  • Band Q ($8,400 to $12,600)
  • Pass in TSC or its equivalent or higher qualification with at least five (5) years relevant work experience;
  • Work experience in Government Accounting System and residence of Haápai will be an advantage.

The deadline for the following vacant positions advertised on 21 October 2019 is now extended till 7 November 2019.

9.  Assistant Accountant (x2)

  • Treasury Division
  • Band M ($15,120 – $22,680)
  • Diploma in Accounting, Finance or related field from a recognized tertiary institution with up to 3 years of relevant work experience in the fields of Accounts in Government or Private Sector.
