AUSTRALIAN HIGH COMMISSION – NUKU’ALOFA
The Australian High Commission in Nuku’alofa invites applications for the position of Program Manager.
About the role:
We are looking for a Program Manager for a portfolio of activities to reduce the health and economic burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Health is one of three key strategic priorities of Australia’s development partnership with Tonga. Main areas of focus include strengthening Tonga’s health system, supporting health-promoting activities such as sports, and improving disability-inclusion in the health sector. You would work in a small team, under the direction of the Second Secretary Development, managing investments, providing strategic advice, and working with stakeholders.
The Program Manager also provides operational support and advice to the Policy and Programs Section on DFAT’s aid management processes and practices. (Training will be provided.) Our culturally diverse team works flexibly, and other tasks may be allocated as required.
International or domestic travel is occasionally required to represent DFAT at meetings or attend training.
Flexible or part-time working arrangements will be considered, subject to the ability to meet operational requirements.

Terms of employment:
The terms of employment will be in accordance with the Nuku’alofa – Locally Engaged Staff Terms and Conditions of Employment. Employment will be offered on a permanent (on-going) contract basis at the LE6 broadband level with an annual salary range between TOP38,805 and TOP44,955 depending on experience. Continued employment is subject to a successful completion of a six month probation period.

The Australian High Commission in Nuku’alofa will not be responsible for any costs incurred if applying for a Tongan visa, relocation costs, nor the return of the officer and family to their country of origin at the end of the contract.
