The New Zealand High Commission in Nuku’alofa is looking to fill one full-time and one part-time vacancy for the position of Development Programme Coordinator to help deliver the New Zealand Aid Programme in Tonga.
The full-time Development Programme Coordinator will manage New Zealand aid projects in the governance, energy, and climate change/environment sectors.
The part-time Development Programme Coordinator will manage New Zealand aid projects in the health and sports sectors, but is expected to manage projects in other areas.
This is a locally engaged position and the right to work in Tonga is required. The salary range is TOP29,791 to TOP40,305 (pro-rated for the part-time position).
The successful applicants must be able to demonstrate:
- strong project management experience, preferably in international aid, with skills in planning, financial management, risk management, and monitoring and evaluation
- sound relationship management skills across a range of stakeholders, including from Government, communities and business, and other development partners
- excellent English language skills and the ability to provide high quality analysis and reporting
- strong information management skills, and an ability to quickly adapt to new software systems.
A relevant tertiary qualification and at least five years’ work experience is essential. As well as having excellent English language skills, Tongan language skills are highly desirable.
The applicants we are looking for will be able to effectively prioritise and organise their own workload around competing priorities. They will be able to work independently without requiring close supervision, be able to quickly pick up new ways of working, and be able to work effectively in a team. The applicants will have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrate sound judgment.
