Nuku'alofa, Tonga : In early March, a “Floating Budget Analysis Unit” that includes seven researchers from the Parliaments of Fiji, Tonga, Australia, New Zealand and New South Wales travelled to the Solomon Islands to increase the capacity of the National Parliament’s secretariat during the parliamentary review of the 2018 budget.

These new movements reflect our current digital age, in which young people can increasingly connect with one another in their own countries and across borders. In doing so, they are exposing the gap between the promise of opportunity and the grim reality of unequal chances – especially for girls. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : The Tokaikolo Church (Siasi Tokaikolo 'ia Kalaisi) claimed back the ownership of church buildings on a property in Kolomotu'a that was being used by a break away congregation, after winning an appeal against a 2017 Supreme Court decision, on March 26. The appeal was against Pohiva Tu'i'onetoa, Kava Fa’oliu, Sione Maile, Mo'ui Fo'ou 'ia Kalaisi Fellowship and the Minister of Lands. Premium content -

Auckland, New Zealand : New Zealand born Tongan, Albert Mateni, aims to inspire Pacific youth with his theatre play, ‘Hearts of Men’ with an all Tongan cast set to debut on 5 – 14 April at the Mangere Arts Centre in New Zealand. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Woman boxer Magan Maka will be Tonga’s flag bearer at the XXI Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia next month. TASANOC announced yesterday that the 24-year-old will lead Tonga’s team of 13 athletes in the parade of nations on 15 April.
