PUBLIC NOTICE FROM TONGA POWER LIMITED / FANONGONONGO MEI HE TONGA POWER LIMITED
Electricity Tariff Decrease Effective from 1st December 2014
Tonga Power Ltd. is pleased to announce a further reduction in the electricity tariff, from the notice published on the 10th of November 2014. This further reduction will be effective on the 1st December 2014.
With international crude oil prices declining further in the month of November, the cost of diesel in Tonga has decreased accordingly by 2.47 seniti per litre, as announced by Government for October-November from $1.8029 to $1.7781 seniti per litre.
The decrease in diesel prices combined with the impacts of the solar farms in Tongatapu and Vava’u and the Nakolo wind turbine, brings the new total reduction for electricity tariff to 3.04 seniti per kWh. The new standard electricity tariff will be 88.69 seniti per kWh, a decrease from the current 91.73 seniti per kWh, for electricity consumed on all four island networks from 1st December 2014.
The tariff adjustment referred to in this notice has been reviewed and approved by the Electricity Commission.
