A baby whale, found stranded on the beach at Nuku Namu Island in Ha'apai on Friday, September 14, was rescued and released into the high tide after an eight-hour effort by the owners and guests at the Matafonua Lodge and local Tongans.

Two Ha'apai divers who have sighted the remains of an old ship wreck in Tonga's Ha'apai islands could not confirm yesterday whether or not the age of the wreck had been identified by experts in Britain, but they believe that it might be the Port au Prince.

A search and recovery operation has ended after a coastal search of inhabited and uninhabited islands in the south west of Vava'u, failed to locate two Australian sailors who remain remain missing after their yacht Navillus was wrecked off Late Island two weeks ago, the Tonga Police said today.

While a search for two missing yachtsmen has stalled in Vava'u, Tonga, today, Sunday, searchers still held out a glimmer of hope that the men may have reached the rugged coastline of the uninhabited Late Island where their yacht "Navillus" was reportedly "shredded" after becoming grounded on Thursday night.
