The death of a Ha'apai sea cucumber diver this morning was the third death of a fisherman in Tonga in the last six days. The unidentified man is believed to have suffered from decompression after diving for sea cucumbers in Tungua yesterday.

A second drowning death of a fisherman off Tongatapu was reported by the Tonga Police this afternoon. The body of a 22 year old fisherman from Patangata was found on the reef today by other fishermen returning from Pangaimotu Island.

The sight of the Hine Moana kalia in full sail, entering the Nuku'alofa harbour on Wednesday, 24 October, was a reminder of Tonga's seafaring past. The Hine Moana, with its Tongan woman skipper, 'Aunofo Havea Satuala, and a 13-members crew, stopped-over in Nuku'alofa for five days on their way to New Zealand.
