Mr. ‘Alo-ki- hakau Maileseni was appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Ports Authority Tonga on 1 August 2022, for a term of four years. The Chairman of the Transport Sector Board of Directors, Dr. Sione Ngongo Kioa and Board of Directors approved the appointment, which was endorsed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Public Enterprises, Hon. Poasi Mataele Tei.

Cargo throughput increased by 15% in 2016 compared to the previous year and this trend is expected to continue during major construction projects in the country, the Ports Authority Tonga stated in its 2016 Annual Report released today. Container throughput hit a record high and ships calls increased by 19% during the same period. Net Profit After Tax was $2.2 million, an increase of 16% from the 2014/15 result, allowing shareholders increased dividends.
