Newly released Pacific Hazardous Waste survey reports have identified the risk of asbestos materials to health in 13 Pacific Island countries, including Tonga. Fibres can travel to the lungs and result in asbestosis, mesothelioma and other lung cancers, stated PacWaste.

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization says that the amount of farm-reared fish must increase from 66 million tons annually to 93 million tons by 2030 to maintain current levels of per capita global fish consumption.
