Tonga and China will celebrate the 15th anniversary of their diplomatic relations on November 2, while looking forward to continuing development assistance along with opportunities for Chinese enterprises to invest in Tonga. China has also expressed an interest in closer coordination and cooperation with Tonga in international and regional affairs, according to a statement from the Chinese Ambassador to Tonga, HE Mr Wang Donghua.

The Premier of the People's Republic of China, Li Keqiang pledged that China would advance the development of relations between China and Tonga, when he met the Tongan Prime Minister Lord Tu'ivakano at the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing yesterday, 22 July. Lord Tu'ivakano told the premier that Tonga attached great importance to developing relations with China.
