The Ministry of Internal Affairs launched colourful printed copies of Tonga’s first Community Development Plans at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall, Nuku’alofa on Tuesday, 4 October. Meanwhile, the Department for Local Government was transferred from the Prime Minister’s Office to the Ministry of Training, Employment, Youth, and Sports, and then to the Ministry of Internal Affairs - who say it will move again.

Two women were elected during local government elections for District and Town Officer positions last Wednesday 29 June. Sisifa Fili is the new District Officer of ‘Eua Motu’a District - the first woman to be a District Officer, and Vika Kaufusi is the new Town Officer for Haveluloto.
