A new community hall was handed over on Friday, October 9 in Angaha, ‘Eua. It was a joint collaboration funded by the people of Japan and also by the Tonga Government, the 'Eua community, IFAD and MORDI Tonga.

The 85th Birthday of Emperor Akihito, the Emperor of Japan was celebrated in Nuku’alofa on Thursday evening, 22 November, with a reception hosted by the Japanese Ambassador to Tonga. He said the Emperor would abdicate next year after 30 years on the Chrysanthemum Throne.
