A gale warning remains in force for all of Tonga's land and coastal areas. Strong and gale force winds are expected to continue affecting Tonga for the rest of this week, while cool strong, east to southeasterly winds prevail all over the group, the Fua'amotu Weather Centre advised this afternoon.

The heaviest rain dumped in Tongatapu over a 24-hour period so far this year was recorded today with the island receiving more than half of the month’s average rainfall, delaying the start of the school year for government schools.

Fua’amotu weather station recorded 100.3mm of rain in 24-hours, the highest rainfall dumped on Tongatapu so far this month, during Tropical Depression 15F, which brought gale warnings for Tongatapu and 'Eua last night, and was cancelled as the system moves away from Tonga today.
