The nomination of candidates to contest the seat for the People's Representative to the Tonga Legislative Assembly for Tongatapu 10 will be held on 6-7 June. The By-Election will be held in July.

Tonga's Appeal Court has dismissed an appeal by Paula Piveni Piukala and another, on the dismissal of their application for judicial review against a decision by the Supervisor of Elections, in regards to Lord Nuku’s election as a Noble's Represenatative. However, clause 65 of the constitution is concerned only with the qualification of Representatives of the People and does not apply to Nobles’ Representatives.

The registration of candidates for the parliamentarian By Elections for Tongatapu 4, Tongatapu 6 and Tongatapu 7 will be held on September 5-6 in Nuku’alofa.

The Electoral Commission has enlisted the assistance of Tonga Police to investigate a complaint lodged by a voter on behalf of Dr Netatua Pelesikoti Taufatofua, alleging electoral irregularities and malpractice in the Tongatapu 1 by-election.

No complaints of electoral infringement or applications for recount had been received by the Electoral Commission on November 29, following the closely-fought Tongatapu 1 By-Election.

With a week left before voters in Tongatapu 1 head to the polls for a parliamentary By-Election, 4,382 voters have registered, before the closing of the electoral roll. This is only 126 more than those registered in the 2017 General Election.

The by-election to decide the seat for Vava’u 16 in the Tonga Legislative Assembly will be held tomorrow Thursday, 14 July contested by four candidates, including one woman.
