Tonga’s Public Service Association (PSA) is demanding an additional 20% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) in their salaries and wages, the Minister of Finance, Hon. 'Aisake Eke told the Tongan Parliament on April 6. Whether or not government could meet the demand would not be clear until the government’s 2014-15 budget was finalized.

A growing crowd, that was shut out of Pangai Si'i this morning, is gathering outside Tonga's parliament and court house, and singing loudly while they await a decision expected this afternoon from Tonga's Chief Justice - that may or may not allow them to return to their rallying point.

onga's public servants rejected a call by the Acting Prime Minister on Friday to return to work this morning, Monday, instead, following a high-spirited rally at the Queen Salote Hall over 2000 public servants marched to the Tongan parliament at noon, and presented to the Speaker of the House, Hon.
