Yesterday, April 1st, the Prime Minister's Office asserted that the Tongan government “was delighted” to receive eight brand new fishing boats from Dongguan in January, even though Chinese Embassy officials concluded later that the hulls were damaged and the boats were not safe to use.

However, China has provided funds to build the new fishing boats here in Tonga.
