A 25-year-old man was arrested in relation to the seizure of illicit drugs, including 1.81 grams of methamphetamine at a bush allotment, on 23 February.

A 43-year-old husband and his 29-year-old wife from Veitongo were arrested with illicit drugs, at ‘Anana. Another 24-year-old man was arrested at Veitongo.

A 53-year-old man was arrested in his vehicle for selling illicit drugs, in which quantities of methamphetamine and cannabis were seized in a police raid at Popua on 24 November.

Two men were arrested in Hihifo District this morning, accused of being in possession of cannabis and an unlicensed shotgun, Tonga Police reported.

Sitaleki Tu’itavake (48) was sentenced to four and a half-years imprisonment for possession of 2.87 grams of methamphetamine 
and 3,153.7 grams of cannabis in two separate incidents. The judge declined to suspend any part of the sentence. "All his recent history demonstrates a flagrant disregard for the law and the opportunities afforded to him for rehabilitation. With his escalating drug offending, he is also becoming a risk to himself and the community,” he said.

Four men have been arrested in a raid by the Police Drugs Enforcement Taskforce at a residence in Vaololoa on 21 June.

'Epuefi Laimani (37) who was sentenced to five and a half years imprisonment for possession of illicit drugs, including 5.15 grams of methamphetamine, while offering cash as bribes to a police officer, was successful in his appeal and got his sentenced reduced to three-years.

Tupou Tafuna (39) was acquitted on four counts that included possession of 6.78 grams of methamphetamine and permitting the use of his house in Sopu for drug dealing, after it was not proven beyond reasonable doubt at the Supreme Court.

Ernie Fotu (43) received a suspended sentence for possession of 15.54 grams of cannabis at the Magistrate Court.
