Tonga's Chief Justice R. M. Webster today, November 15 rejected an application by FlyNiu Airlines Ltd. and Air National Corporate Ltd. for a Judicial Review of the government of Tonga's Domestic Civil Aviation Policy, which came into force on 30 July 2004.

Polynesian Airlines's new service, connecting 'Apia and Pago Pago to Vava‘u landed at the Lupepau‘u Airport, Vava'u, this morning, November 5, beginning a twice weekly Dash 8 air service between the two Samoas and Vava'u.

I had recently planned a trip to Niuatoputapu, but had to cancel when Tongan Airlines went bankrupt. Since that time there has been totally confusion and lack of transportation to the Niuas. Now they say the DC3's cannot use the runways. - Dick Watt

I too have been an avid reader of comments regarding the two airlines in Tonga. Before, I lay down my comments in regards to this issue, I would like to state that my company works closely with Peau Vava'’u by means of facilitating bookings that originate from overseas. I don't know if you have some kind of a forum about the grounding of Air Niu, but we only can comment for our guests on Fafa Island Resort who have been using both airlines, and the Fly Niu was the preferred airlines with most guests. -Josef Sanladerer

In a hearing in an open court on 6th September 2004 to consider a review of the injunction granted by the Court on 17 August, 2004 quashing the sole operator license of Peau Vava'u Limited, the Supreme Court of Tonga ordered to rescind the injunction granted by it on 17 August 2004 and this to take effect from Friday 10th September 2004. - Peau Vava'u

Royal Tongan Airlines ceased operation yesterday, closing its offices in Tonga, and about 100 people who were still employed in the airline's domestic service were told the bad news that they too have lost their jobs.
