China gives $600,000 for cyclone relief [1]

A $600,000 (USD) cash grant was handed over to the Prime Minister Lord Tu’ivakano from the Government of the People's Republic of China, by the Chinese Ambassador to Tonga HE Mr Huang Huaguang, on 12 February
Lord Tu’ivakano said Tonga was extremely grateful for this the assistance for relief efforts in Ha’apai..
The Chinese Government had initially provided $10,000 (TOP) to assist the people in Ha’apai with construction materials and other in-kind support donated by local businessmen and Chinese community in Tonga.
Tropical Cyclone Ian battered the Ha’apai Island Group on January 11 destroying around 800 homes.
